Chlorine Tablets are a common water disinfectant that kills most viruses and bacteria in water. These water purification tablets can also be used to disinfect water for cleaning and washing fruits and vegetables, in addition to treating drinking water.

Water chlorination is a widely accepted method of disinfection and purification of water to make it potable. Chlorine Tablets are highly effective for the inexpensive, economical, and timely purification of drinking water under the various schemes of protected water supply in rural areas. This is the most basic method of water disinfection and purification.

Chlorine Tablets
Chlorine is effective against a wide range of microbes that cause waterborne diseases such as typhoid, diarrhoea, cholera, and hepatitis, among others. Chlorine tablets are widely credited with preventing outbreaks of waterborne illnesses around the world. They were recently named the “most significant public health advance of the millennium” by Life magazine.

They’ve been shown to provide a strong barrier between your health and waterborne pathogens. Chlorine tablets act as disinfectants by killing microorganisms in water during treatment and thus preserving its drinking quality. Because of their high reactivity, chlorine tablets have the potential to inactivate enzymes in addition to killing microbes. However, it has no effect on cytoplasmic enzymes, so the water is safe to drink.

Is it safe to drink chlorinated water?
Although chlorine is harsh against disease-causing bacteria, it is neutralised in our bodies. Furthermore, the concentration of chlorine in chlorine is sufficient to kill pathogens but is most likely too low to cause significant harm in humans.
